First graders were discussing pollution, the environment, recycling, and reusable resources. So I collected bottle tops and we made landscapes! I stressed that I wanted to see different style brushstroke sand just love what the kids created!
Kindergarten students drew dragons!! Seriously! I couldn’t believe how great these turned out but the kids did fantastic! We discussed drawing an imaginary creature (and what is real and make believe… this was a funny conversation!). Then we drew the dragon, painted paper that was later cut into fire, and put it all together. Seriously, I was amazed with these little cuties!
In second grade, the students learned the difference between drawing from observation versus drawing from their memory. They looked at photographs of butterflies, talked about symmetry, and then draw a detailed contour line drawing of a butterfly. I think the students were really impressed with how well they turned out!
